LEWISBURG, Pa. – Zach Henkhaus and Alex Spring of the men's lacrosse team were two of the 20 Bucknell student-athletes presented awards at the 55th Annual Department of Athletics & Recreation Senior Recognition Dinner, held on May 1 in the Terrace Room on campus.
Henkhaus received the The Robert A. Latour Service Award, presented for extraordinary service to Bucknell and local communities. Spring was given the Bryan-Humphreys Award, which is presented to a student-athlete who has exhibited exceptional versatility within his/her sport, displaying outstanding achievement and the selfless determination to help the team succeed by contributing in a variety of ways.
Henkhaus was a four-year member of Bucknell's short-stick defensive midfield rotation. A team captain as a senior, Henkhaus has also participated in the Bison Pals program, where he serves as “Best Buddy” to J.J., a developmentally challenged man from the local area.
Spring is one of the nation's best long-stick defensive midfielders, excelling as both a one-on-one defender and as a terrific ground-ball artist. Spring recently earned his second career All-Patriot League certificate, and he was a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American coming into his senior year. Spring is only the second Bison ever to record 200 ground balls, and he will graduate No. 2 on Bucknell's all-time list with 258.
