LEWISBURG, Pa. – Maria Cioffi was named the winner of the Bradley N. Tufts Award at Bucknell's annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet on Sunday night.
The Bradley N. Tufts Award is presented to senior athletes for exceptional athletic achievement and contribution to Bucknell athletics. Cioffi has exceeded all expectations on her way to becoming the winningest player in the history of Bucknell women's tennis. After suffering an injury in high school that caused her to fly under the radar in recruiting, Maria has made her case for the title of “best player in program history” with 91 singles wins, 171 combined victories and Three All-Patriot League honors.
Cioffi went 22-3 all-time in Patriot League dual matches, including a stretch of 20 straight wins dating back to her freshman season, and she is certain to earn her fourth All-Patriot League citation this season. Maria is also outstanding in the classroom, earning the 2014 Patriot League Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, in addition to two Academic All-Patriot League selections.
