LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's track and field junior Ross Pirnie and senior Grant Reynolds were selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team, announced by the league on Monday. Four of the nine teams had at least two players honored with a spot on the 11-player squad. American's Brendan Johnson was named Scholar Athlete of the Year.
A student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport to be nominated for the Academic All-Patriot League Team. For track and field, a starter or key player is defined as someone who competed at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Pirnie receives the honor for the first time in his career. A member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and Bucknell's Dean's List, Pirnie had an outstanding championship meet. The junior came from behind to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase to earn First Team All-Patriot League accolades. A cell biology and biochemistry major, Pirnie holds a 3.74 GPA.
Reynolds earns his second Academic All-Patriot League citation after receiving the nod during the indoor season. A Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, Reynolds continues to enjoy a fantastic outdoor season. He is the Patriot League champion in the 110-meter high hurdles, and earned the silver medal in the 400 hurdles while also helping the 4x100 relay squad score at the championship meet. Over the weekend, Reynolds earned All-East status in the 110-meter high hurdles at the IC4A Championships and hopes to qualify for the NCAA East Regional.
The NCAA East Regional is set for May 26-28 in Jacksonville, Fla.
