Three Bison Boats Advance to Grand Finals at Eastern Sprints

WORCESTER, Mass. (Lake Quinsigamond) – The Bucknell women's rowing team made the trek to Worcester, Massachusetts, on Sunday for the competitive Eastern Sprints, which features a number of Ivy League and Patriot League schools. The Bison finished in sixth place in the 13-team field and was the top Patriot League squad, finishing ahead of fellow PL members Boston U., MIT and Georgetown.
Six Bison boats were in action on Sunday and three of them made appearances in a Grand Final. Bucknell's third varsity eight and two Bison varsity four boats made Grand Finals appearances.
The third varsity eight and varsity four “A” both finished second in their Grand Finals, marking the top grand finals finishes for Bucknell boats on Sunday. Both the third varsity eight and varsity four “A” were victorious in their heats. The varsity four “B” placed third in its Grand Final after a runner-up showing in its heat.
The second varsity eight and fourth varsity eight had second-place showings in their petite finals, while the varsity eight posted a fourth-place finish in its petite final.
Sunday's races marked the first of two important events for the Bison program at Lake Quinsigamond this month. Bucknell will race at the lake in less than two weeks at the Patriot League Championships.
