CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Eleanor Marrs and Marta Considine each scored three goals and dished out a pair of assists to lead the No. 20 Bucknell women's water polo team to an 11-7 victory over No. 18 and fifth-seeded Harvard Sunday in the fifth place game of the CWPA Championship.
The fifth-place finish marked Bucknell's best since it placed fifth in 2010. The win improved the Bison's season record to 18-15, marking their most wins since 2009.
Bucknell, which was seeded third in the nine-team CWPA Championship field, led 5-3 at halftime and a goal by Hannah Sunday with 1:35 left in the fourth period gave it a game-high five-goal advantage at 11-6.
Tegan Stanbach gave the Bison three multiple-goal scorers as she had two goals and three assists.
Manuela Herrera posted seven saves in goal as Bucknell beat Harvard for the second time in the last two weeks. The Bison posted a 7-6 win over the Crimson on April 16.
Bucknell's win over Harvard (24-10) marked its third this season against a ranked opponent.
Sunday was named to the CWPA Championship All-Tournament First Team following the event, which was won by Michigan. It is Sunday's third straight appearance on the All-Tournament Team, and her first on the first team after a pair of second-team honors. She finished the year with a team-high 69 goals, putting her in fourth place on Bucknell's single-season list.
With her five points on Sunday, Marrs finished her career with 285 points to rank seventh in program history. Her team-high 122 points this season rank third on the program's single-season ledger.
