Women's Rowing Opens Competition at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – The Bucknell women's rowing team opened competition at the two-day Knecht Cup on Saturday with some strong performances. Six Bison boats were in action on Saturday and five of them advanced to Sunday's races. Additionally, two Bucknell boats were scheduled to compete in the third varsity eight heats, but adverse weather conditions impacted the schedule and those boats will race for the first time on Sunday.
The Bison varsity eight and second varsity eight both advanced to Sunday's semifinals. The varsity eight placed third in its heat, while the second varsity eight was in fourth place.
The varsity four raced twice on Saturday and finished in fourth place in both its heat and in the semifinal. The Bison will compete in Sunday's Petite Final.
Two Bucknell boats were entered in the second varsity four competition and both advanced to Sunday. The top Bison boat will race in the Grand Final, while the “B” boat will row in the Petite Final. Bucknell “A” won both its heat and semifinal to post the only Bison victories on the day.
A total of seven Bucknell boats will race Sunday. The final event (varsity eight) of the Knecht Cup is scheduled for 3:41 p.m. on Sunday.
