Penn Relays: Live Results
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell track and field program has one week left before the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, and will use the week to send a large group to compete at the Maroon and Gold Invitational at Bloomsburg University. In addition, a small group will compete at the 122nd Annual Penn Relays.
The Maroon and Gold Invitational is set for Saturday, while the Penn Relays is a three-day event that began Thursday and will conclude on Saturday.
The Bison women turned in quality results on the opening day. Abigail Brundage finished sixth in a field of 39 throwers in the shot put college with a heave of 45-3 ¾. The toss is a personal-record and ranks top-10 in the Bucknell record book. Jen Silvestri took 12th out of 52 in the 400-meter hurdles, completing the event in 1:01.69.
“We have some very good athletes competing at the Penn Relays, although we are taking a low key approach due to exams coming up soon and the Patriot League Championships next week,” said head coach Kevin Donner. “The Maroon and Gold Invitational is also a low key meet in which some athletes are resting and others are using it as a tune-up.”
The Bucknell men won 14 events last year at the Bloomsburg meet, including six from this year's current squad. Joseph Breen (shot put, discus), Kyle Adams (1,500), Nicholas Lombardo (long jump), Ross Pirnie (steeplechase) and Maxwell Prizant (pole vault) each won their respective events.
The Bison women earned 12 first-place finishes, including 11 from this season's current team. Carly Reiner (100, triple jump) and Sophia Nnadi (shot put, hammer) earned a pair of titles in their respective events.
Rounding out the Bucknell winners were Stephanie Easse (discus), Jess Bridle (200), Andrea Bourgal (800), Elizabeth Sheprow (1,500), Kafilat Oladiran (100 hurdles), Seline Tan-Torres (400 hurdles) and Lapszynski (long jump).
Bucknell is set to host the 2016 Patriot League Outdoor Championships on May 6-7 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
