Women's Rowing Wraps Up Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – The Bucknell women's rowing team wrapped up the two-day Knecht Cup on Sunday. Six Bison boats competed with five of them making appearances in finals races. The second varsity four placed second in its Grand Final and the third varsity eight won its final for the best performances by Bison crews this weekend.
There were two Bucknell boats entered in the second varsity four competition and the “A” boat won both its heat and semifinal on Saturday to advance to the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, the Bison finished second to Kansas and crossed the finish line a few seconds ahead of third-place Boston College.

The third varsity eight did not row on Saturday, but was able to win a pair of races on Sunday. The boat won its heat and then captured first in its final later in the day. It was the only Bison boat to race twice on Sunday.
The second varsity eight also had a victory on Sunday, winning the third level final by more than seven seconds over North Carolina.
The varsity four was runner-up in its Petite Final race on Sunday, while the varsity eight placed seventh in its morning semifinal race.
Bucknell will host its first home event of the spring on Saturday, April 16, when Canisius and Eastern Michigan visit the Susquehanna River for a scrimmage against the Bison. Bucknell will row the following weekend against Dartmouth, Penn and Princeton at Lake Carnegie.
