LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bison senior Chris Hass and head coach Nathan Davis recently added to their list of postseason men's basketball honors. Hass was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 13 First Team, while Davis was announced as one of 10 finalists for the Joe B. Hall Award, presented to the top first-year head coach.
Hass was a First Team All-Patriot League selection this season, making him a three-time PL all-star. He ranked third in the league in scoring at 17.2 points per game while helping Bucknell claim the league's outright regular-season title for the fifth time in the last six years.
Hass scored in double figures in 28 of 31 games and topped the 20-point mark seven times, including a memorable 40-point game at Army West Point on Jan. 2. He finished his career ranked No. 11 on Bucknell's career scoring list with 1,402 points, and his 190 career 3-point field goals are sixth-most in program history.
Hass was joined on the NABC All-District 13 First Team by Lehigh's Tim Kempton, Yale's Justin Sears, Columbia's Maodo Lo, and Princeton's Henry Caruso. The Second Team was comprised of Army's Tanner Plomb, Colgate's Austin Tillotson, Harvard's Zena Edosomwon, and Yale's Makai Mason and Brandon Sherrod.
This is Hass' second straight appearance on the NABC All-District Team, and Bucknell has now been represented on the team in each of the last five years.
Davis led Bucknell to a 14-4 Patriot League record in his first year at the helm and was rewarded with Patriot League Coach of the Year honors. He was joined on the list of finalists for the Joe B. Hall Award by Little Rock's Chris Beard, Green Bay's Linc Darner, East Tennessee State's Steve Forbes, Hawaii's Eran Ganot, Chattanooga's Matt McCall, Murray State's Matt McMahon, Buffalo's Nate Oats and Alcorn State's Montez Robinson.
The winner of the Joe B. Hall Award will be announced on Monday, April 4 in Houston, site of the men's NCAA division I men's basketball championship. The award is presented by CollegeInsiders.com and is named in the honor of Joe B. Hall, who was given the task of following the legendary Adolph Rupp. In his first season at the University of Kentucky, Hall finished 20-8, won the SEC and advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals.
