LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After picking up the win in the cage against Delaware in his collegiate debut on Saturday, Bucknell freshman Christian Klipstein has been named the Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week.
Klipstein made 10 saves while conceding only five goals in Bucknell's 13-5 rout of the Blue Hens at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. He backstopped a stellar defensive effort against a typically potent Delaware team. After giving up a goal just 1:06 into the contest, the Klipstein and the defense pitched a shutout for the next 21:11, while the offense rattled off six straight goals to take command of the game.
Klipstein is not the first member of his family to win a Patriot League weekly award. Christian's older brother, Ryan, claimed three Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week citations across the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Another brother, Reaves, is currently a junior defenseman at Army West Point.
After topping Delaware to start the year 1-0, the Bison will play their next three games on the road, starting Saturday at Bryant at 1 p.m.
