Women's Rowing Announces Adjustments to Schedule

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's rowing program has announced a few adjustments to its schedule this spring due to the racing area on the Cooper River undergoing some improvements and being unavailable to host events in the upcoming months. The Bison were scheduled to compete on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, three times this spring. The dates impacted are March 26, May 1 and May 13.
Instead of racing on the Cooper River at the Murphy Cup on March 26, Bucknell will now scrimmage the Princeton Lightweights that day on Lake Carnegie.
Both the Eastern Sprints (May 1) and Patriot League Championship (May 13) will now be held at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.
“While it is unfortunate that the Cooper River race course will be unavailable this spring, we are looking forward to returning there next year when all the improvements are complete,” commented Bucknell 20th-year head coach Stephen Kish. “Meanwhile, the rowing community is very lucky to have such strong support from the communities of Worcester and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, as well as the Quinsigamond Rowing Association. Adding two major rowing competitions to their schedule at this late date is quite an undertaking.”
Bucknell will host two events this spring. The Bison will welcome Eastern Michigan and Canisius to the Susquehanna River for scrimmages on April 16, while Fordham will visit on April 24. All home races take place on the Susquehanna River near Shamokin Dam, about a 10-minute drive from the Bucknell campus.
