Klotz, English Earn Weekly Awards for Women's Basketball

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell swept the Lids Team Sports Patriot League weekly awards for the fourth time this season Monday, as sophomore guard Jacquie Klotz was named the Player of the Week and freshman guard Kyi English was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week. Additionally, Klotz received the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week award.
The pair helped the Bison improve to 18-6 overall and 12-1 in the Patriot League with a 67-54 win at Lehigh on Wednesday and a 79-60 victory over Colgate on Saturday. They have been nearly unbeatable at Sojka Pavilion this season, upping their record to 11-1 with the win over the Raiders.
Klotz recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bison to a 67-54 victory at Lehigh, going 8-of-13 from the floor which included a 5-of-8 showing from beyond the arc. The sophomore then put on one of her best performances of the season against Colgate, shooting a perfect 9-of-9 from the field with a 5-of-5 clip from 3-point range. She missed just one free throw to finish 4-of-5 and led Bucknell to a 79-60 win over the Raiders. She finished the week averaging 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 77 percent from the field, 77 percent from long range and 88 percent from the foul line.
English scored in double-figures in back-to-back contests for the first time in league play, netting 10 in the win at Lehigh then matching a career-high 13 points in the victory over Colgate on Saturday. She also posted five assists, a career-high three steals, and was 6-of-6 from the charity stripe against the Raiders. English finished the week averaging 11.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals.
Through 14 weeks of play, Bucknell has won six Player of the Week Awards and six Rookie of the Week honors. The Bison lead the league in both categories.
The Bison will be on the road for a pair of games this week. They will travel to play Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and to Boston University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
