Men?s Track and Field Picked Fourth in Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Patriot League Track and Field Preseason Poll was announced on Friday and the Bucknell men's track and field team was picked to finish fourth in the conference by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
Navy, the defending champions, received 128 votes and 16 first-place votes to finish atop the preseason poll. Boston University was picked second, tallying 109 votes and one first-place vote, followed by Army West Point with 103 points and one first-place nod.
Bucknell received 85 points, followed by Lehigh (75), Holy Cross (51), Lafayette (42), American (29) and Colgate (19) to round out the nine-team ballot.
The Bison finished fourth at last season's Patriot League Indoor Championships and return Second Team All-Patriot League honoree, Nicholas Lombardo (long jump, high jump).
Bucknell opened the indoor season on Dec. 2-3, hosting the Bison Opener. Three Bison won individual titles at the meet, including Lombardo (long jump), William Melchionni (300-meter) and Scott Gulizio (800m).
The Bison return to action Jan. 7 to host UMBC and Saint Francis (Pa.) in a tri-meet at Gerhard Fieldhouse. The 2016-17 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled for Feb. 17-19 at Boston University.
