LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Rade Joksimovic (Novi sad, Serbia/Gimnazija Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj) has been named the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season, it was announced Tuesday. It was his 13th weekly award this year, including 11th from the conference office.
In addition to earning Rookie of the Week honors seven times, Joksimovic has been named conference Player of the Week three times, conference Defensive Player of the Week once and Bison Athlete of the Week twice.
Joksimovic totaled 17 goals, one assist, five steals, four ejections drawn and won 4 of 5 sprints in helping Bucknell to a 3-0 weekend against conference opponents Fordham, Wagner and Johns Hopkins. He opened the weekend with a 10-goal performance in a win over Fordham. It marked his second double-figure goal output of the season and the 10 goals ranks him tied for sixth on the program's single-game list.
After being held to just one goal against Wagner due to foul trouble, Joksimovic ended the weekend with a team-high six goals against Johns Hopkins.
Joksimovic has totaled 124 goals, 27 assists, 151 points, 60 steals and 29 ejections drawn this season. He ranks fourth on the program's single-season goals list, trailing only Hall of Famer Scott Schulte, who had 184 goals, 154 goals and 127 goals in three different seasons during his career. Joksimovic is just five points away from joining the single-season top-10 list in that category. No other Bison player has joined that list since 1987.
Bucknell, which is ranked 13th nationally, has won six games in a row and is 20-4 on the season. It marks the program's first 20-win campaign since 2007. The Bison are the top seed in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship, which will be held Nov. 18-20 at Kinney Natatorium.
