LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior center Nana Foulland was named to the Patriot League Men's Basketball Preseason All-League Team on Wednesday. The league office also announced the preseason poll of coaches and sports information directors, and the Bison were picked to finish third in the 10-team conference.
The 6'9” Foulland has rapidly developed into one of the Patriot League's top frontcourt players. He was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection as a sophomore after producing 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He ranked fifth in the league in rebounding, fourth in field-goal percentage (.536), third in blocked shots (1.4) and 20th in scoring. An All-Rookie selection in 2014-15, Foulland has started all but one game in his first two collegiate seasons, with the lone reserve appearance coming on Senior Day last season.
Foulland was joined on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team by Lehigh's Tim Kempton and Kahron Ross, Boston University's Eric Fanning, American's Delante Jones, and Loyola's Andre Walker. Kempton was named Preseason Player of the Year.
Lehigh was selected as the preseason favorite in the Patriot League, garnering 17 of the 20 first-place votes and 161 points in the poll. Boston University collected the remaining three first-place nods and tallied 139 points, while Bucknell was close behind in third with 132 points.
Holy Cross (115), American (86), Colgate (83), Loyola (69), Navy (49), Lafayette (43) and Army West Point (23) rounded out the poll.
Bucknell has captured five of the last six outright Patriot League regular-season titles. Last season, the Bison won the league with a 14-4 conference record, one game better than Lehigh. Bucknell returns two All-Patriot League players in Foulland and point guard Stephen Brown, who was a Third Team pick a year ago.
The Bison open the 2016-17 season at home against Manhattan on Friday, November 11.
