LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's track and field jumper Nicholas Lombardo has been selected as the M-F Athletic Male Field Athlete of the Week following his record setting performance at the Gulden Invitational.
Two weeks after tying the school-record in the high jump at the Penn State Relays, the sophomore topped his mark with a leap of 6-11.
In addition to winning the high jump, Lombardo also captured the long jump title, recording a jump of 23-3 ¼. His performance was an IC4A-qualfying mark and was the 10th-best effort in program history. Lombardo was also the runner-up in the triple jump.
Lombardo earned the meet's MVP award for field events for his performance.
Senior John Westwood was an honorable mention, as he took first place in the 1,000-meter run with an IC4A-qualfying time of 2:27.52. He also anchored the 4x400 relay squad, which won their event with an IC4A-qualfying time of 7:52.22.
Bucknell will send runners to two separate events this weekend as one group will stay home for the Bison Open & Multi, while the other group will make the trip the Penn State National Invitational.
