LEWISBURG, Pa. – A pair of Bucknell women's track and field seniors received weekly awards from the Patriot League following their results at the Gulden Invitational over the weekend.
Jess Bridle was named M-F Athletic Female Track Athlete of the Week, while Abigail Brundage earned M-F Athletic Female Field Athlete of the Week honors. Bridle was also chosen as the Bison Athlete of the Week.
After setting the school record in the 300-meter run in the Bison Opener, the senior set another program record with her performance in the 400-meter. In a field of 18 runners, Bridle crossed the line in 55.88, breaking the previous mark set by Jenni Zymet (55.93) in 2014. Her time also qualifies her for the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Bridle also competed in the 200-meter run, finishing in 25.12 to earn the first-place finish. Her performance was the fifth fastest in school history. Bridle was named the meet's MVP for track events.
Brundage qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships for her effort in the shot put. The senior won the event with a heave of 45-7 ¾.
Sophomore Kafilat Oladiran also set a new program mark at the Gulden Invitational, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.77. Her time broke the previous record set by Catherine Trentacoste (8.78) in 2007.
Bucknell will send runners to two separate events this weekend as one group will stay home for the Bison Open & Multi, while the other group will make the trip the Penn State National Invitational.
