LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Kate Scott led the women's cross country team to a first-place finish in a strong field at Colgate's Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday, and on Tuesday she was rewarded with the season's first M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Runner of the Week award. She added ECAC Runner of the Week recognition two days later.
Scott finished third out of 111 runners in a field that included student-athletes from nationally-ranked Syracuse and regionally-ranked Albany. The Bison edged the Danes for the team title, 52-53, while the Orange finished third. The race was run on the site of this year's Patriot League Championships, and also included conference members Colgate and Navy.
Despite finishing in a tie for first place at the conference championships last year, Bucknell went without a Patriot League Runner of the Week award during the season. Scott is the first female Bison runner to win the award since Caroline Tolli in 2012.
The Bison will compete at Penn State's Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The 6k race will be held at the Blue-White Golf Course.
