LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team bounced back from last weekend's tough outing with an outstanding first day at the Bison Invite on Friday. The Bison posted a 14-3 record in singles and doubles in an event that included Lafayette, Saint Francis, Niagara and Norfolk State. Play concludes on Saturday
Bucknell is guaranteed a title in Flight 1 doubles. Lisa Jouravleva and Lauren Fishbein advanced to the finals with two wins, including an 8-6 victory over Norfolk State's Dajana Cvjetkovic and Liza Gordeeva in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Maria Cioffi and Michele Urbinati went 2-0, advancing to the championship match with an 8-6 win over Brittany Plaszewski and Rafaela Panizza from Saint Francis. Cioffi and Urbinati are the returning champions in the event.

In singles play, Bucknell will be represented in seven of the eight semifinals matches. Jouravleva and Cioffi both won their opening matches in Flight 1. Madeline Melch posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lafayette's Rocine Moschella to advance to the semifinals in Flight 2. The Bison have a great chance at a title in Flight 3, where Bush, Fishbein and Melissa Parks make up three of the four semifinalists after wins in the quarterfinals. Allie Lane topped Lafayette's Maddie Olexson 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals of Flight 4, while Mishi Papich received a bye on the other side of the bracket.
