Cioffi and Parks Advance to Semifinals of Flight 1 Bracket at Saint Joseph's

MERION STATION, Pa. – Maria Cioffi and Melissa Parks went 2-0 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Flight 1 bracket as the Bucknell women's tennis team opened play at the three-day Saint Joseph's Invitational.
Cioffi and Parks pulled through in two tough matches. The pair edged Saint Joseph's Claire Minnoe and Alex Zachem 8-6 in the first round. Despite the tough match, the Bison players had plenty of energy left to outlast Norfolk State's Dajana Cvjetkovic and Liza Gordeeva 9-7 in the quarterfinals. They will now turn their attention to a semifinals matchup with Delaware's Annie Jaskulski and Amanda Studnicki.
Cioffi and Parks are now 5-0 in doubles play this season. They went 3-0 to win the Flight B title at the Bucknell Tournament last weekend.
The Saint Joseph's Invitational resumes with singles competition at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
