LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophia Nnadi has been selected as the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after helping to lead the Bucknell women's track and field team to the title at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships this past weekend at Army West Point's Shea Stadium.
Nnadi was named the Field Athlete of the Meet thanks to winning the shot put with a meet and school record toss of 49-10 ½. The previous meet record of 48-1 ¾ was set by Lafayette's Sue Izevbigie in 2007, while the previous Bucknell record of 47-10 ¾ was set by Chelsey Musante in 2010.
Nnadi was also All-Patriot League in the hammer throw, earning Second Team honors with a runner-up finish. She just missed a third all-conference honor with a third-place showing in the discus.
The Bison won the Patriot League outdoor title for the 14th time in program history and the 13th time in the past 17 years. They will compete at the Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday, and will take part in the ECAC Championships in Princeton, New Jersey on May 15-17.
