Ten Senior Student-Athletes Receive Bucknell Prizes and Academic Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Last Sunday, 156 Bison student-athletes received their diplomas at Bucknell's 165th Commencement. One day earlier, the University handed out its senior prizes and academic awards at a ceremony held in the Weis Center on campus, and 10 student-athletes received some of Bucknell's most prestigious honors.
Heading the list was senior rower Margo Boyd, who took home a class-high five awards, including the top honor of the day: The President's Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement. Boyd and football student-athlete Derek Maurer were re-presented the Alvin F. Jackson Jr. '59 Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award, which they had initially received on Apr. 28 at the 54th Annual Department of Athletics & Recreation Senior Recognition Dinner.
Boyd, who graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in applied mathematical sciences, also received The Bucknell Prize for Women, The Oliver J. Decker Prize, and the Maria Leonard Senior Book Award.
Other student-athletes honored on graduation weekend included Trey Lauletta (football), Jackie Shroyer (women's swimming & diving), Jaclyn Tules (women's rowing), Arriana Sajjad (women's lacrosse), Victoria Mold (women's track & field), Alex Wallace (women's lacrosse), Dylan Cowell (men's cross country) and Kim Nagotko (women's track & field).
In addition to winning the The Richard P. Nickelsen Prize for outstanding performance in geology, Nagotko was this year's Christy Mathewson Award winner as the most outstanding student-athlete in her class.
Bison Student-Athletes Receiving University Prizes and Awards:
Margo Boyd (Women's Rowing):
The Bucknell Prize for Women -- a prize established by William Bucknell for that woman of the graduating class who has the highest four-year average.
Oliver J. Decker Prize -- established by Oliver J. Decker, LL.D., Class of 1889, and consist of a prize for that member of the graduating class not in an engineering department who has attained the highest average, all courses having been taken at Bucknell University; and a prize for that member of the graduating class from the College of Engineering who has attained the highest average, all courses having been taken at Bucknell University.
Maria Leonard Senior Book Award -- given to the graduating senior members of Alpha Lambda Delta with the highest GPA in their class.
Alvin F. Jackson Jr. '59 Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award -- honors the memory of an alumnus and father of a member of the Class of 1989, and is given for excellence in athletics and academics, leadership, loyalty, and courage.
President's Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement -- awarded annually to those students who demonstrate the highest level of academic achievement by attaining a cumulative GPA of 4.00 on a scale of 4.00.
Dylan Cowell (Men's Cross Country):
Michael D. LaGrega Award for Excellence in Environmental Engineering -- awarded to a member of the graduating class in civil and environmental engineering whose academic achievements and interests show outstanding promise for a career in environmental engineering.
Trey Lauletta (Football):
The University Prize for Men -- given to the man of the graduating class who, in the judgment of the president of the University, the vice president for academic affairs, and the dean of student life, or of such committees as they may appoint, most embodies the highest qualities of cultured Christian manhood and the promise of a high degree of usefulness to society. No person shall be barred from consideration for this prize because of religious faith or because of race or color.
Derek Maurer (Football):

Victoria Mold (Women's Track & Field):
Eleanor D. Decker Prize for Women -- given to the woman of the graduating class who, in the judgment of the president of the University, the vice president for academic affairs, and the dean of student life, or of such committees as they may appoint, most embodies the highest qualities of cultured Christian womanhood and the promise of a high degree of usefulness to society. No person shall be barred from consideration for this prize because of religious faith or because of race or color.
Kim Nagotko (Women's Track & Field):
The Richard P. Nickelsen Prize -- awarded to a senior demonstrating outstanding performance in geology.
Arriana Sajjad (Women's Lacrosse):
David R. Crossgrove Prize -- established by Sara Deck Crossgrove '28, is awarded to a senior pursuing a career in the legal profession, who combines scholastic achievement and campus leadership with a strong code of ethics and a vision of attaining fairness in the legal profession.
Jackie Shroyer (Women's Swimming & Diving):
The Bucknell Prize in Geography -- awarded to the member of the graduating class who has done the most outstanding work in geography.
Jaclyn Tules (Women's Rowing):
The Bucknell Prize in Geography -- awarded to the member of the graduating class who has done the most outstanding work in geography.
Alex Wallace (Women's Lacrosse):
Beta Gamma Sigma Prize -- awarded to the member of the graduating class who has done the most outstanding work in business.
