Matt O?Reilly to Join Bison Men's Basketball Squad

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head men's basketball coach Nathan Davis has announced the signing of 6'3” guard Matt O'Reilly to a National Letter of Intent. A native of Moraga, California, O'Reilly will join the Bison in 2015-16 and become the fourth member of a promising recruiting class that also includes Nate Jones, Kimbal Mackenzie and Nate Sestina.
“We are very excited that Matt will be joining the Bucknell basketball family,” said Davis, who was named head coach on Apr. 19. “He is a multi-talented offensive player with the athleticism to become a good defensive player. He is an excellent student and will be a perfect fit for Bucknell both on and off the floor.”
O'Reilly attends Campolindo High School, but for his senior season of basketball he played for Prolific Prep Academy in Napa, California. O'Reilly averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists for Prolific Prep playing against national competition.
O'Reilly earned all-state honorable mention honors during his junior season at Campolindo, and he was an All-NorCal and All-Bay Area selection as both a sophomore and junior while leading his team to the state playoffs.
O'Reilly is the son of Sophia and Robert O'Reilly, and he has three siblings: Sara (20), Jessi (15) and Shane (10). His father is a 1985 Princeton graduate and played basketball for the Tigers.
Earlier in his high school career, O'Reilly played the lead role in a national television commercial that ran extensively during the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
O'Reilly joins a Bucknell squad that has captured four of the last five Patriot League regular-season titles, including the 2014-15 crown. The Bison finished 19-15 overall and 13-5 in the Patriot League last season. They made their second-ever appearance in the NIT and dropped a close game to top-seeded Temple on the road.
Bucknell will return all five postseason starters and five of its top six scorers next season, in addition to the talented first-year class.
