LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's track and field team is set to compete at the three-day IC4A Championships, which will be held at Princeton's Weaver Stadium beginning on Friday.
Senior Christian Lupica will take one last shot at achieving one of his goals, an IC4A title. He was the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles last season, finishing second by just one one-hundredth of a second. He returns to compete in the same event this season, entering with the fifth fastest time (13.81).
Lupica has dominated the 110-meter hurdles this season. He won the Patriot League title, while also winning the 400-meter hurdles, and set a Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium record while taking first at the Bucknell Team Challenge. He is a lock to qualify for the NCAA East Regional for the second straight season, as he currently holds the 14th fastest time in the region.
Bucknell will have a trio of throwers compete at the IC4A Championships, including school record holder Joseph Breen. He smashed the program mark while competing at the Bison Outdoor Classic, and then broke his own record with a toss of 56-3 on his way to a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships. Breen will also compete in the discus along with teammate Jack Fellows, who will also compete in the hammer throw. Pat Mulrooney will take part in the javelin.
Kevin Tapper and Nicholas Lombardo will represent the Bison jumpers. Tapper, who scored in five events at both the Patriot League Indoor and Outdoor Championships, will compete in the triple jump. Lombardo will wrap up a stellar freshman season with the high jump and long jump.
Zach Williams rounds out the Bucknell individual competitors this weekend. Williams took advantage of the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday, besting the IC4A standard in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:11.16.
Running the 4x400 relay for the Bison will be Jacob Ashkettle, Dan Gevirtz, Andrew Wiener and Griffin Robertson.
