LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior baseball players Anthony Gingerelli (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat) and Bryson Hough (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) received special awards at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the Elaine Langone Center on Tuesday.
Gingerelli won the Ronald J. “Pete” Pedrick Award, presented to senior athletes “in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period.” Hough was a winner of the Lee S. “Bud” Ranck Memorial Award, presented to senior athletes “for outstanding spirit and contributions to the Bucknell athletic program.”
In addition to Gingerelli and Hough, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class.
A First Team All-Patriot League selection last year, Gingerelli was a three-year starter in the Bison outfield. He led the Patriot League in home runs in 2014 and ranked in the top 10 in the conference in seven other categories. This year, he hit .301 with three home runs and 24 RBIS. He finished the campaign on a career-best eight-game hitting streak to finish with a career .300 batting average.
Gingerelli was a member of the Patriot League All-Tournament Team in 2013 and is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member. His 18 doubles this year rank him third on the program's single-season list.
A four-year member of Bucknell's weekend pitching rotation, Hough was a member of the Patriot League All-Tournament Team last May when he helped the Bison win the conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He concluded his career with the program record for innings pitched (288.1) and ranks in the top 10 in school history in seven other pitching categories, including ERA, wins, fewest walks per nine innings, shutouts, starts and strikeouts.
Hough in 2015 was 4-5 with a career-low 2.74 ERA. The team's No. 1 starter, he struck out a career-high 46 and pitched five complete games.
Gingerelli and Hough helped lead Bucknell to a 24-22 record this spring.
