LEWISBURG, Pa. – Steven Kaspar, a two-year co-captain of the Bucknell men's basketball team, received the Edward W. Pangburn Award on Tuesday night at the 54th Annual Department of Athletics and Recreation Senior Recognition Dinner. The Pangburn Award is presented to the senior student-athlete who “demonstrates sportsmanship, fellowship and contribution to the University.”
Kaspar played in all 133 games for the Bison over the last four seasons, one shy of the school record. His 413 career assists are fifth-most in program history.
Kaspar was a part of three Patriot League regular-season championship teams, and he played in an NCAA Tournament and two NITs. Bucknell won 88 games and produced a 48-14 league record during his career.
This past season, Kaspar showed tremendous leadership as a senior playing a backup role behind a freshman point guard. But Kaspar was almost always on the floor late in close games, and he led the Patriot League in assist-to-turnover ratio during the conference season. He helped the Bison to a 13-5 record in league games and a first-place finish, and his defense late in regulation and in overtime was a big key to Bucknell's thrilling Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal win over Holy Cross.
Kaspar majored in computer engineering at Bucknell and will be working in Memphis, Tennessee after he graduates next month.
