LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's rowing program is well represented in the latest regional rankings. The Bison are ranked fourth overall in Region 2 with Bucknell's varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity fours each appearing in the rankings.
In the team rankings, the Bison are behind Northeastern, Boston U. and Drexel, but one spot ahead of fellow Patriot League member Navy. In the varsity eight ranking Bucknell is third, ahead of conference-mates Boston U. and Navy.
The Bison second varsity eight and varsity four are both ranked fifth in Region 2. There are five regions across the country.
Bucknell is coming off a strong showing at this past weekend's competitive Clemson Invitational. The Bison varsity eight was especially strong as it defeated No. 20 Minnesota, Tennessee and Dartmouth for the first time in program history. Additionally, the varsity eight posted its second-ever win against Penn.
Bucknell was scheduled to host its only home event of the spring this Saturday against Delaware and UConn, but the Susquehanna River has risen to an unacceptable level for racing. The Bison, who will still hold their annual Senior Day recognition ceremony on Saturday, will now turn their attention to the Dad Vail Regatta, which is May 8-9 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Bucknell boats won three gold medals at last year's Dad Vail Regatta.
