LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell baseball team will continue its seven-game homestand this week when it hosts St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader on Tuesday and Towson in a single game on Wednesday. Tuesday's twinbill starts at 2 p.m., while Wednesday's contest is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
The Bison (19-20, 5-11 PL) are coming off a 1-3 weekend against Patriot League foe Lafayette. All four games were decided by three runs or less.
Anthony Gingerelli hit a team-best .286 in the series against the Leopards, while the Bucknell starting pitchers averaged better than seven innings per start.
St. Bonaventure enters Tuesday's action with a 13-14-2 overall mark and it is 2-10 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Bonnies are 1-5 in their last six games.
The Bison are 8-20 all-time against St. Bonaventure. The series dates back to 1913. The Bonnies swept a doubleheader in April 2013 in Olean, New York, the last time the two teams met. They were scheduled to play last year at Depew Field, but inclement weather forced a cancellation of the doubleheader.
Towson is 11-25-2 overall this season and 5-10 in Colonial Athletic Association games. The Tigers are 3-4-2 in their last nine games and will host George Washington Tuesday afternoon.
Bucknell trails in the all-time series against Towson 28-14. The Tigers posted a 4-2 home win last year, while the Bison won a 5-4 extra-inning contest the last time they played in Lewisburg in 2013.
Wednesday's game vs. Towson is the final home game of the year for Bucknell, which celebrated Senior Day on Sunday. The Bison will be in action this coming weekend at Holy Cross, marking their final Patriot League regular-season series. Sunday's games are scheduled to air live on the Patriot League Network.
