LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell women's lacrosse team plays its final contest of the 2015 season on Saturday when Boston University visits Graham Field for a 1 p.m. start on the Patriot League Network. The Bison will celebrate Senior Day prior to the game, with a large class of nine seniors recognized with their families.
Bucknell (2-14, 0-7 Patriot League) is coming off a narrow 12-10 loss at Columbia in a non-league game on Tuesday. The Bison have won on Senior Day in each of the last two seasons, and in order to make it three straight they will have to solve a Terriers squad that is locked into the No. 4 seed at next week's Patriot League Tournament. Boston University (6-8, 4-3 PL) has dropped its last three games, including a 9-8 overtime decision at New Hampshire on Wednesday.
Maddy Molinari had three goals and two assists in the Columbia game, and she leads the team in goals (28) and points (38) on the season. Emily Kookogey, who is one of the nine seniors slated to be honored on Saturday, also reached the 30-point mark this week with 18 goals and 12 assists. Against Columbia, Kookogey went over the 100-point mark for her career. She now has 77 goals and 24 assists for 101 points.
Gretchen Richter has nine goals in her last two games and 22 on the season, and she has also upped her school-record draw control total to 80. That is the second-highest total in the Patriot League and the eighth-highest in the nation.
Mallory Collins (34-1-35) leads the Terriers in goals and points, while Ally Adams (21-7-28), Lindsay Weiner (10-13-23) and Remy Nolan (14-6-20) all have 20 or more points. Boston University averages 8.9 goals per game as a team, while allowing 9.6 per game. Goalie Caroline Meegan has a .469 save percentage and leads the Patriot League in ground balls with 34 and saves per game at 8.4.
The Bison and Terriers have met twice previously. Bucknell won 12-8 in 1996, and Boston University prevailed 11-9 last season in the first meeting between the two teams as conference rivals.
Last year's game was close throughout, as neither side led by more than two goals all day. Katelyn Miller scored five goals to lead the Bison, while seven different players scored either one or two goals in a balanced Boston University attack.
Along with Kookogey, Carly Downs, Blair McDonald, Cori Thielemann, Claire Switala, Arriana Sajjad, Alex Wallace, Chloe Chou and Caroline Collins will all be playing in their final collegiate game on Saturday.
