Women's Rowing Opens Competition at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – The Bucknell women's rowing team opened the two-day Knect Cup Saturday with some solid performances as all four boats that were in action advanced to Sunday. Additionally, two other Bison boats that did not race Saturday will be racing on Sunday. Windy conditions at the Knecht Cup caused some adjustments from the initial schedule.
Bucknell's varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four raced on Saturday and all four advanced to Sunday. The varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four will compete in the semifinals, while the second varsity four will race in the Petite Final.
The varsity eight had the top finish of the day for a Bison boat as it won its heat, finishing nearly two seconds ahead of UMass. The second varsity eight posted a runner-up finish in its heat, while the varsity four and second varsity four both finished in fourth place in their heats.
A total of six Bucknell boats will race Sunday as two Bison crews will row in the novice/freshman eight heats Sunday at 9 a.m. The final event (varsity eight) of the Knecht Cup is scheduled for 3:11 p.m. on Sunday.
