Women's Water Polo Drops 10-3 Decision at No. 14 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Bucknell women's water polo team trailed No. 14 Long Beach State just 4-2 at halftime, but the 49ers outscored the Bison 6-1 in the second half on the way to a 10-3 victory Thursday evening at Lindgren Aquatics Center. Bucknell fell to 7-7 on the year, while Long Beach State improved to 10-7.
Hannah Sunday scored both of Bucknell's two first-half goals in the second quarter, while Colleen Barron broke a string of five consecutive Long Beach State goals with a score in the fourth quarter. Justine Morgan led the 49ers with three goals.
Haley Derrod posted five saves in goal for Bucknell, which is now 1-3 on its eight-game trip to California.
Long Beach State is the first of four consecutive ranked foes for the Bison. The 49ers extended their winning streak to six games as they opened their home schedule.
Bucknell will play four games at this weekend's Aztec Invitational to wrap up its California trip.
