
Women's Water Polo's California Trip Opens with 11-5 Loss at Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Taylor Barnett had two goals and three other Bison had one apiece, but Cal Baptist scored five goals in the third quarter and the Bucknell women's water polo team opened its spring break trip to California with an 11-5 loss to the Lancers Tuesday.
The Bison (6-5) led 3-2 midway through the second quarter, but Cal Baptist (8-8) tallied the last two goals of the second quarter and then outscored Bucknell 5-1 in the third period to take a five-goal lead. The final six-goal margin equaled the largest lead of the game for the Lancers.
Barnett had a solid all-around game with two goals and two sprints won, while Eleanor Marrs contributed one goal and three assists. Tegan Stanbach and Hannah Sunday also registered goals. Sunday is now just three shy of 100 for her career.
Haley Derrod started in goal for the fifth time this year and recorded four saves.
Hannah Evans led Cal Baptist with six goals, including four in the third quarter.
Bucknell will continue its California trip Wednesday with games at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (6 p.m. Eastern) and Pomona-Pitzer (10 p.m. Eastern).
