Men's Water Polo's Aleksic and Curry Named Honorable Mention All-Americans

LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the third consecutive year the Bucknell men's water polo program has two All-Americans. The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced its All-America teams on Tuesday and Bison Stefan Aleksic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sport Gymnasium) and Grant Curry (La Jolla, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) earned Honorable Mention honors. It is the second straight year Aleksic has been named an Honorable Mention All-American, while it is the first appearance for Curry, a freshman.
Aleksic becomes the latest Bucknell player to earn All-America honors in consecutive seasons. Richie Hyden was cited three straight years (2008-10), while Jack Else was recognized in 2012 and 2013.
Aleksic and Curry this past fall were honored with spots on the CWPA All-Southern Division Teams. Aleksic was a first-team choice, while Curry was on the second team. He was also named the Rookie of the Year.
A member of the All-CWPA Championship Team, Aleksic finished his junior campaign with a team-high 89 points (53g, 36a). He started 24 of the squad's 26 games and was fourth on the team in ejections drawn (19).
Aleksic has been one of Bucknell's top offensive performers throughout his career and will enter his senior season with 146 goals, 122 assists and 268 points. All of those figures are most among current Bison and put him within reach of joining the program's career top-10 lists in each category.
Curry led Bucknell in goals this past fall with 63. His point total of 76 ranked second on the team to Aleksic, while his 28 ejections drawn placed him third. Curry posted 19 multi-goal outings, including a seven-goal output against Navy in early November.
Bucknell finished the 2014 season with a 17-9 record and placed fifth at the CWPA Championship. The Bison equaled their most wins since winning 20 games in 2007.
