LEWISBURG, Pa. – The final weekend of the regular season has arrived for the 22nd-ranked Bucknell wrestling team. The Bison will host Binghamton Friday at 7 p.m. in the final home match of the 2014-15 campaign and will then travel to VMI Sunday for a 2 p.m. match.
Prior to Friday's match, the Bucknell wrestling program will recognize seniors Tyler Lyster, Joe Orecchio and Ray Schlitt during Senior Night ceremonies. Live results of the Binghamton match will be available via TrackWrestling.com.
Bucknell (15-3, 8-0 EIWA) has put together one of the best regular seasons in program history. The Bison have set a school record for wins in a season, are one of only two teams (along with Cornell) undefeated against EIWA competition and own a 10-match winning streak. The Bison have five grapplers with at least 20 victories and nine of their regular starters own above-.500 records on the season.
Bucknell's 10-match winning streak is its longest since the late 1980s when the Bison won a program-record 11 in a row.
A number of Bucknell wrestlers are also in the midst of winning streaks, led by No. 10 Joe Stolfi. The 285-pounder has won 20 consecutive duals and is now 33-5 on the year to rank tied for fourth on the program's single-season wins list. Stolfi last time out tied Brian Pitzer's Bucknell career pins record with his 50th. He leads the nation in pins this year with 18. Stolfi is 18-0 in duals and needs just one more win to tie the school single-season duals wins record.
Following this weekend's matches, Bucknell will gear up for the EIWA Championships, which take place at Lehigh March 6-7.
