LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After posting double-digit scoring performances in both of Bucknell's road victories last week, freshman center Nana Foulland has been named the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Foulland tallied 10 points and six rebounds in Bucknell's 52-51 win at Navy last Wednesday, and then he pocketed 16 points and six boards in Sunday's 78-75 decision at Army. After the road sweep of the service academies, the Bison have moved back into sole possession of first place in the Patriot League at 10-4.
Foulland came up with key baskets at critical points in both games last week. In the final five minutes of the Navy game, twice he scored in the lane to give Bucknell one-point leads. Then with 46 seconds remaining, he made two clutch free throws to stretch a one-point margin up to three.
In the Army game, Foulland beat the shot-clock buzzer twice in the final four minutes of the contest, both coming with the Bison leading by narrow four-point margins.
All three of Foulland's Rookie of the Week citations have come since the start of Patriot League play. He is averaging 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on the season, and 11.1 points and 6.1 boards against league competition. He is also shooting 56.9 percent from the field in Patriot League games.
Winners of three straight and eight of its last 10 games, Bucknell hosts Loyola on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.
