
Men's Water Polo Improves to 2-0 at Southern Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Stefan Aleksic scored all three of his goals in the first 3:27 of the game to lead Bucknell to a 14-6 win over Penn State Behrend in the Bison's second game of the Southern Championships on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison clinched a spot in the semifinal round, which is scheduled for today at 4:40 p.m.
Bucknell jumped out to an 8-0 lead after one quarter on its way to improving to 16-9 overall and 11-1 in its home pool this season. In addition to Aleksic's three goals, Tommy Stupp and R.J. Moore each scored twice in the first quarter. Sean Daley had the other goal, which put the Bison up 1-0 just 25 seconds after the opening sprint.
The Bison took their foot off the gas for most of the remainder of the game, but still managed to tack on three goals in both the second and third quarters. They improved to 9-0 all-time against the Lions, out-scoring them 129-19 during that stretch.
Nine players scored in the game for Bucknell. Johnathan Coleman had two goals, while Nate Hunter, Max Wilder, Marko Djordjevic and Jeff Hagen each had one. Daley, Ratimir Babic, and Stupp had two assists apiece.
Charlie Niehaus picked up the win in goal, stopping eight of the 14 shots he faced. He has 16 saves through two games of the tournament.
