LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior forward Claire DeBoer has been named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the Bucknell women's basketball team to a 1-1 record in non-conference games last week.
DeBoer led Bucknell in both points with 19 and rebounds with seven in a 71-45 win at home over Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, helping the Bison get off to their best start (4-1) in 15 years. She made seven of her 10 field goal attempts and hit all five of her free throws, while adding four steals in the win. DeBoer kept it going in a tough 61-56 loss at Canisius on Sunday, nearly leading the team to a comeback from a 13-point deficit. She again led the Bison in points with 24 and rebounds with 12, recording the 12th double-double of her career.
For the week, DeBoer averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. She now ranks fifth in the league in rebounding (9.2) and seventh in scoring (15.7). She has scored in double-figures in each of the team's seven games this season.
The Bison will host undefeated Youngstown State on Wednesday at Sojka Pavilion. The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Bucknell men's game against Columbia at 7 p.m.
