LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Kate Scott was the top runner on Bucknell's women's cross country team that won the Patriot League title in dominant fashion on Saturday. She was further rewarded for her performance by being named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Scott was the second-place finisher out of 109 runners at the championship meet, crossing the finish line of the 6k course in 21:23. She was one of six Bison runners to earn All-Patriot League recognition, joining sophomore Christine Bendzinski and junior Sarah Chandler on the First Team. Seniors Deanna Godby and Nora Adams and freshman Christine O'Kane all ran to Second Team accolades.
The Bison had three of the top four individual finishers. They finished with 34 points, the lowest by a championship team since 2008. Navy was the runner-up in the team standings with 51 points.
Scott earned All-Patriot League honors for the second straight year, adding to her Second Team status a season ago. She was Bucknell's top finisher in each of the four races she ran in so far this season.
Bucknell will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at Princeton on Friday, Nov. 13. The Bison are ranked eighth in the region, the highest of any team from the Patriot League.
