LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced its all-conference teams on Thursday and two Bison players were cited. Senior captain Stefan Aleksic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sport Gymnasium) was named First Team All-CWPA Southern Division, while junior Sean Daley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was a second-team choice.
Aleksic earned his third consecutive all-conference nod, becoming the first Bucknell player to accomplish that since Jack Else from 2011 to 2013. Aleksic is the first Bison to be on the first team in back-to-back years since Brian Barron and Matt Napleton in 2011 and 2012.
A two-time Honorable Mention All-American, Aleksic enters this weekend's CWPA Championship ranked eighth in program history in career assists (148), ninth in career points (351) and 10th in career goals (203). This year, Aleksic leads the team with a career-high 57 goals. He has also dished out 26 assists for a team-high 83 points.
Aleksic has posted 17 multi-goal games this season and scored a total of nine goals at the Southern Championships two weekends ago. He also posted 13 steals at Southerns and has a team-leading 58 on the season.
In his second year as a full-time starter, Daley has been exceptional. The utility player is tied for third on the team with 31 goals, leads the squad with a career-high 48 assists and ranks second to Aleksic with 79 points.
A first-time all-conference honoree, Daley now has 69 goals, 112 assists and 181 points in his three-year Bucknell career.
A starter in all 27 games this year, Daley is second on the squad with 45 steals, and his 31 sprints won are a team-best figure.
Aleksic, Daley and their Bison teammates will be in action this weekend at the CWPA Championship. Seventh-seeded Bucknell, which is ranked 15th nationally, will open the three-day event Friday at 11:20 a.m. against 10th-seeded George Washington.
