Chandler Named Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior Sarah Chandler has been named the Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after earning the women's cross country program's first All-Region award since 2006. She received the recognition after running to a 24th-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Friday at Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
Chandler finished the 6k race in 21:35, just five-tenths of a second behind the runner in front of her. The 24th-place showing was good enough to give her the Bison's first All-Region honors since Leanna Nastase nine years ago.
Bucknell finished eighth in the region as a team. The race came just two weeks after the Bison dominated the Patriot League Championships, where Chandler was one of six runners on the team to earn All-Patriot League status.
Chandler and the other runners now turn their attention to the indoor track and field season. They will start the season at home with the Bison Opener on Dec. 4-5 at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
