LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior men's water polo player Sean Daley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) has been named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week following a seven-goal, 12-assist performance in four games over the weekend. Daley helped lead the Bison to a 3-1 mark against four CWPA Southern Division opponents.
A two-year starter, Daley had a string of outstanding outings over the weekend. He opened with four goals and three assists in a 17-10 win over George Washington and followed with one goal, one assist and three steals in a 6-4 loss to No. 11 Princeton.
On Sunday, Daley, who earned his first career Bison Athlete of the Week honor, posted three assists, three steals and four ejections drawn in a 9-4 victory against Johns Hopkins and then concluded with perhaps his best performance of two goals and five assists in a 15-11 win opposite Navy.
Daley's five assists against the Mids were the most by a Bison since he had five against Navy in October 2013. Both of his seven-point outings matched the most by a Bucknell player this year.
In addition to his strong showings on both the offensive and defensive ends of the pool, Daley captured 5 of 8 sprints, including going 2-for-2 against Johns Hopkins.
Daley now leads the team with 27 assists this year and his 42 points rank second to Stefan Aleksic, who had 11 goals and four assists over the weekend. Daley also has a team-high 27 steals, has drawn eight ejections and has won 24 of 40 sprints.
On a career level, Daley is just nine assists shy of becoming the second current Bison to reach 100 career assists. He needs just six more points to reach 150 in his career.
Bucknell, which is 11-4 overall and 4-2 against CWPA opponents, will hit the road this Saturday, Oct. 17, for a rematch with Navy in Annapolis. Start time is noon and the contest will air live on the Patriot League Network.
