LEWISBURG, Pa. – When Bucknell University students return to campus starting late next week, they will be greeted by brand new cardio equipment in the popular Krebs Family Fitness Center. The facility is scheduled to be closed this week while the old equipment is removed and the new machines are installed. Advantage Sport & Fitness, based in Ithaca, New York, is handling the removal and set up of all equipment.
The equipment replacement project will help the Krebs Family Fitness Center remain among the best facilities in the area and provide the most current technology in fitness machines to its users, including increased energy efficiency.
“Adding new equipment to the Krebs Family Fitness Center is a large project that will be a positive for both Bucknell students and the campus community as a whole,” noted Bucknell associate director of athletics for recreation services Karen Landis. “This facility is used by so many people on a daily basis and we hope this improvement will make it easier for everyone to enhance their health and wellness. We are excited to open the doors back up and welcome our students to the facility once again later this month.”
In addition to the new machines in the Krebs Family Fitness Center, this project also included the replacement of the spinning bikes used for group fitness classes.
Overall, 53 cardio machines and 20 spinning bikes were replaced this week. Five Expresso Reality Bikes have been added to the facility as well.
Promoting lifetime wellness, the two-story Krebs Family Fitness Center opened in 2003 and is located within the Kenneth Langone Athletics and Recreation Center (KLARC). The KLARC is one of the finest collegiate athletics and recreation venues of its kind and enhances each of Bucknell's 27 varsity programs while also expanding the scope of the school's intramural and recreational sports offerings.
The Krebs Family Fitness Center is scheduled to reopen to students, the campus community and members this week.
