Three Bison Selected to Compete in NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Meet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants in the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships competition on Thursday afternoon, and three members of the Bucknell men's track and field team are among the elite few that were selected to participate. Senior Tyler Erhard (Millerstown, Pa./East Juniata), junior Christian Lupica (Newtown, Pa.) and junior Laddie Trees will all represent the Bison at the East Preliminary meet, held from May 29 to 31 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.
Trees will be the first Bison to compete at this year's meet, taking part in the javelin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, while both Erhard and Lupica will compete on Friday, May 30. Lupica will race in the first round of the 110m hurdles at 5 p.m., while Erhard will contest the 3000m steeplechase at 8:50 p.m. Trees and Erhard will both be making their first appearance at the NCAA East Preliminary meet, while Lupica will be competing for the second consecutive season, having also been selected for the 110m hurdles last year.
The top 12 finishers in each event will advance to the National Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon, which will be held from June 11 to 14. The qualifiers from the East Region will be joined in Oregon by the top 12 finishers from the West Preliminary meet, being held from May 29 to 31 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
