LEWISBURG, Pa. – Recent Bucknell men's lacrosse graduates Todd Heritage (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and Jackson Place (Wayne, Pa./Episcopal Academy) have been selected to play in the 73rd USILA/LaxWorld North-South Game. The contest will take place Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. at M&T Bank Stadium, the site of that afternoon's NCAA national championship game.
Heritage and Place are two of six Patriot League representatives in the game and will be members of the South Team. A total of 56 players were selected to play in the prestigious game.
Heritage has been one of the Patriot League's premier goal scorers over the last four years. He tied for the team lead with 24 goals this spring, placing him eighth in the conference. After posting four goals in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals, Heritage wrapped up his career with 120 goals, the second-highest total in Bucknell men's lacrosse history. He also finished his career with 143 points, tied for sixth-most in program history.
The winner of the Robert A. Latour Service Award at the Bucknell Athletics Senior Recognition Dinner late last month, Heritage was a top-20 national finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes student-athletes for their character, academics, community involvement and athletic achievements. Heritage has served as an academic tutor and mentor through the Bucknell Buddies and Learning Connections programs and has been a member of Bucknell Student Voices.
Heritage was a member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second straight year in 2014.
A two-time All-Patriot League selection, including a first-team citation this spring, Place has been a defensive stopper for the Bison throughout his career. A 2014 Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, Place was a fourth-round draft pick of the MLL's Ohio Machine and he earned the Lee S. “Bud” Ranck Memorial Award at Bucknell's Senior Recognition Dinner.
A veteran of more than 60 career games, Place has ranked in the top 25 nationally in caused turnovers per game each of the last three years, including second this season. He led the team with 38 caused turnovers in 2014 and his 42 ground balls ranked second on the squad.
Heritage and Place graduated as part of a class that helped Bucknell to 42 wins over the last four years, the second-most of any senior class in program history.
