LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Collegiate Water Polo Association on Tuesday announced the field and seeds for the upcoming CWPA Championship, which will be held April 25-27 at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. The Bison earned the No. 6 seed in the eight-team field and will open the tournament Friday, April 25, at 3 p.m. against third-seeded Hartwick.
The Bison (12-12) are coming off a third-place finish at this past weekend's Southern Championships. Bucknell and Hartwick (20-12) met once this season with the Hawks posting a 13-6 victory at February's Bison Invitational.
The Bucknell-Hartwick winner will play the Princeton-Harvard winner in Saturday's (April 26) semifinal, while Sunday's (April 27) final is slated for 1:30 p.m.
The Bison earned an automatic berth to the CWPA Championship thanks to their third-place finish at the Southern Championships. This marks the 13th consecutive year Bucknell has qualified for the CWPA Championship, formerly called the Eastern Championship. The Bison finished in seventh place a year ago at Michigan.
This year marks the second time Kinney Natatorium will serve as the host venue for the CWPA Championship, having previously hosted it in 2004. The CWPA Championship is a ticketed event. Ticket options include a three-day tournament pass for $25 or a one-day ticket for $10. Bucknell students, faculty and staff with a valid ID, and fans 65-and-older, will be admitted at discounted prices of $12 (tournament pass) and $5 (one-day ticket). Children 12-and-under will be admitted free of charge.
