Women's Rowing Advances Six Boats to Second Day of Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – Eight Bucknell women's rowing boats were in action Saturday on the first day of the Knecht Cup and six will advance to Sunday's competition, including four boats that earned finals appearances thanks to first-place finishes.
The varsity eight and second varsity eight each won its semifinal and will race in Grand Finals on Sunday, while the lightweight eight and lightweight four registered first-place finishes in heats and will row in Sunday's finals.
The freshman eight was third in its semifinal to earn a spot in the Petite Final, while the varsity four advanced to its semifinal and its sixth-place showing placed it into Sunday's Third Level Final.
Also in action Saturday were the third varsity eight (fifth place in heat) and the second varsity four, which posted a runner-up finish in its heat, but missed out on a finals appearance by just one spot.
Sunday's first women's event at the Knecht Cup is the lightweight four at 8:10 a.m. The varsity eight Grand Final is slated for 2:40 p.m. and will wrap up the day's schedule.
