LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell will try to officially secure a Patriot League Tourmament berth on Friday night when Lafayette visits Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. A victory over the Leopards would lock up one of the six tourney bids. The Bison are 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League, and they are coming off a 16-6 rout of Mount St. Mary's in a non-league affair last weekend.
The Bucknell-Lafayette game will be streamed live on Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network. Prior to the game, the Bison will honor their six seniors: Tom Black, Peter Burke, Todd Heritage, Sam McDonough, Tyler McLamb and Jackson Place. This class has compiled 41 victories over the last four years, two shy of the program record of 43 wins, established by the Class of 2013.
Lafayette is 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the league, but their lone PL victory was an impressive 8-7 upset of Colgate in Easton back on Feb. 22. The Leopards fell to Manhattan 8-7 in double overtime in their most recent outing on Tuesday.
Brian Bock leads Lafayette with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists this season. Robert Orazietta has 14 goals, and Sonny Round leads the team with 11 assists. The Leopards average 6.5 goals per game and allow 10.5. Goalie Jake Hyatt has a .515 save percentage.
Bucknell has won 19 of the last 20 series meetings with Lafayette, including a 13-6 verdict last season in Easton, and the Bison lead the all-time series 40-7. Heritage scored four goals, David Dickson handed out five assists, and Sean Doyle had two goals and three assists in last year's game. Thomas Flibotte also had a hat trick for the Bison, who outshot the Leopards 45-27.
Doyle continues to lead the Bison in goals (20) and points (33), while Dickson has a team-high 18 assists. Heritage and Flibotte have scored 17 goals apiece. Dickson has scored a point in 39 straight games. That is the eighth-longest active streak in the country.
Bucknell's EMO unit is 9-for-13 (.692) over the last six games. On Saturday the Bison will face the Patriot League's top-ranked man-down team in Lafayette. The Leopards lead the league and rank ninth nationally in penalty-killing at 72.7%.
Colin Farawell has handled the majority of the faceoffs in the last two games and is 17-for-37 (.459) over that span, which is considerably better than the team's season mark of .356. Farawell is a sophomore but is in his first year in the program after competing with the Bucknell wrestling team in 2012-13.
Bucknell wraps up the regular season at No. 1 Loyola next Thursday in Baltimore. The 7 p.m. game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
