Lupica, who has earned five Male Track Athlete of the Week awards in his career and three this season, competed at the SPIRE Division I Indoor Track & Field Invitational this past weekend, turning in another blazing performance in the 60m hurdles. After a speedy showing of 7.95 in the prelims of the event, the junior ran the fastest time in the Patriot League this season in the finals, finishing third in 7.86, a mark that ranks him 29th in the event in Division I track and field. His time also broke his own school record, a mark that he has reset four times during his junior campaign, by two one-hundredths of a second.
Fellows, who claims his first weekly award from the Patriot League, continued a string of impressive performances in the weight events at the Bucknell Tune-Up on Friday. The junior won the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 62-03.75, easily surpassing the IC4A standard. The mark makes him the fifth-best performer in the event in school history, and is also the second-best performance in the Patriot League in the 2014 season.
Lupica, Fellows and the rest of the Bison will return to action this weekend when they host the 2014 Patriot League Championships at Gerhard Fieldhouse. The annual conference meet will begin with the multi events on Friday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. and will run through Sunday, Feb. 23. Live results and full coverage of the meet will be available on BucknellBison.com.
