Track and Field Men and Women Picked Second in Patriot League Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Patriot League Track and Field Preseason Poll was released on Friday and both Bucknell's men's and women's teams were picked to finish second in the conference by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
The Bison men received 114 points and three first-place votes, finishing second behind Navy with 127 points and 15 first-place votes. Boston University (97), Army (94), Lehigh (68), Lafayette (51), Holy Cross (47), American (29) and Colgate (21) completed the poll order.
Bucknell's men's team finished second to Navy at last year's indoor conference championship. Christian Lupica returns this season after leading the Bison with a title in the 60-meter hurdles.
Boston University captured all 18 first-place votes from opposing schools in the women's poll to finish with 162 points, followed by Bucknell with 137 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Lehigh (126), Navy (123), Army (95), Holy Cross (88), Lafayette (67), Colgate (40), Loyola Maryland (37) and American (25) filled out the rest of the poll.
The Bison women finished third at last season's indoor championships, coming in behind Boston University and Lehigh.
Bucknell kicks off the indoor season tonight when it hosts the Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse. The men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon will start tonight, while the field and running events will be held on Saturday.
