LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Junior guard Chris Hass earned his second Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week award of the season on Monday, in recognition of his 26-point performance in last week's 61-58 home victory over Albany.
In that game, Hass made 9 of 18 shots from the field and 6 of 11 from 3-point distance, and he also logged four rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots with no turnovers in 35 minutes of action. The six 3-pointers marked a new career-high, and four of those came in the second half of a tight contest.
Hass gave the Bison the lead for good with a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 15:41 left in the game. He then made three more treys in the final 7:38, each of them coming with Bucknell leading by either three or four points at the time. The biggest shot of the game was his heavily contested three from the right wing as the shot clock expired with 2:50 to play. That gave the Bison a 59-53 lead, and they would hold on to win 61-58.
Hass has now topped the 20-point mark three times this season, with the other two coming against Michigan (21) and Villanova (32). He leads the team and ranks fourth in the Patriot League in scoring at 16.8 points per game.
The Albany game was Bucknell's final contest before the break for final exams. The Bison are back in action on Friday against Case Western Reserve at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. That game will be preceded by a women's game against Yale at 4:30 p.m.
